چکیده

The creation of small-diameter tissue-engineered vascular grafts using biodegradable materials has the potential to change quality cardiovascular surgery in future. implantation these arterial yet reach clinical application. One reasons for this is thrombus occlusion graft acute phase. In paper, we first describe causes accelerated formation and discuss drugs that are thought inhibit formation. We then review latest research on methods locally bind anticoagulant heparin extend duration sustained release. also results studies large animal models challenges need be overcome future applications.

Silk-based electrospun tubular scaffolds for tissue-engineered vascular grafts.

Electrospinning was used to fabricate non-woven nanofibrous tubular scaffolds from Bombyx mori silk fibroin using an all aqueous process. Cell studies and mechanical characterization tests were performed on the electrospun silk tubes to assess the viability of their usage in bioengineering small-diameter vascular grafts. Human endothelial cells and smooth muscle cells were successfully cultured...

Coronary Artery Aneurysm After Everolimus-Eluting Bioabsorbable Vascular Scaffold Implantation.

A mong the rare complications after percutaneous coronary intervention, coronary artery aneurysms (CAA) reportedly have an incidence of 0.3% to 6.0%. The detection of CAAs vary from 3 days to up to 4 years after drug-eluting stent (DES) and from 6 days to up to 6 years after baremetal stents (BMS) implantation. Associated factors include residual dissection and deep arterial wall injury caused ...

Tissue engineering of vascular grafts

Tissue engineering of vascular grafts 187 1 3 Summary Background There is a considerable clinical need for a sufficient prosthetic small-diameter substitute which can compete with autologous vessels. Currently used synthetic materials have a poor performance due to high thrombogeneicity and development of intimal hyperplasia. Tissue engineering is an interesting alternative approach for vascula...

Surgical technique for the implantation of tissue engineered vascular grafts and subsequent in vivo monitoring.

The development of Tissue Engineered Vessels (TEVs) is advanced by the ability to routinely and effectively implant TEVs (4-5 mm in diameter) into a large animal model. A step by-step protocol for inter-positional placement of the TEV and real-time digital assessment of the TEV and native carotid arteries is described here. In vivo monitoring is made possible by the implantation of flow probes,...

An Early Study on the Mechanisms that Allow Tissue-Engineered Vascular Grafts to Resist Intimal Hyperplasia

Intimal hyperplasia is one of the prominent failure mechanisms for arteriovenous fistulas and arteriovenous access grafts. Human tissue-engineered vascular grafts (TEVGs) were implanted as arteriovenous grafts in a novel baboon model. Ultrasound was used to monitor flow rates and vascular diameters throughout the study. Intimal hyperplasia in the outflow vein of TEVGs was assessed at the anasto...
